Opportunities for Learning are Endless

The Techno Warriors are about more than just robots.  The team members learn on a weekly basis how to work together.  Working together easily is not something that happens overnight.  As the season progresses personalities and aptitudes become apparent and the team begins functioning as a team.  One team member steps in where another lacks interest or skills.  The entire time they are having fun while learning at the same time.  In FLL, those two things go hand-in-hand.

TECHNO WARRIORS WIN MISSISSIPPI STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Overjoyed with Their Win!
This was the busiest Mississppi FLL tournament yet.  Forty-five teams from across the state competed at this year's Senior Solutions FLL state tournament.  Three of the Tchno Warriors had never competed at a tournament before, so this was definitely a tournament to remember.  In addition to winning the Champion's Award, the team als0 won the Robot Performance award.  It was a fantastic day!

The Techno Warriors are excited about the tournament and cannot wait to see the other 49 teams which will be in attendance.  The teams in Mississippi have most certainly devised some super solutions for seniors this year.

The Techno Warriors Advanced team will be volunteering at the tournament and demonstrating an FTC robot on a regulation field.

Good Luck to all the teams!

Learning about another generation

FIRST has done it again.  They are doing the youth of the world a great service by partnering them with seniors this year.  How often do youth have the opportunity to not only learn about aging but to also identify a problem common to a generation and then tackle the task of solving it?  The challenge this year has teams partnering with seniors.  A senior as defined by the challenge is anyone 60 years or older.  The team has had the pleasure of interviewing 5 seniors thus far and each one had his/her own unique story to share.

Let the Senior Solution® Season Begin

On August 28 the Senior Solutions challenge will be revealed.  In the meantime, the Techno Warriors gathered together to assemble the mission models.  Even after the models were constructed, team members were still scratching their heads wondering what the challenges would be this season.

Food Factor® World Festival! 2012

The Techno Warriors, team #1051, joined 78 other teams in St. Louis, Missouri April 25-28, 2012 for several days of phenomenal fun at the Food Factor World Festival.  This was a fantastic end to an already fantastic season.  The Techno Warriors interacted with teams from 32 countries outside the United States of America.  The team's alliance team, Biohazard, was from New Zealand.  Every day was jam packed with activities from morning until night.  The Techno Warriors did an outstanding job during their judging sessions although Colorbot wasn't at the top of his game during the robot rounds.  All in all it was an experience none of the parents, coaches, or team members will forget anytime soon.

Food Factor® Mississippi FLL Championship Tournament

On December 3, 2012, the Techno Warriors competed at the Mississippi FLL Championship Tournament in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  The event was held at the Lake Terrace Convention Center and was at capacity.  This was the largest state tournament ever hosted by RAM robotics and 45 teams were in attendance.  The Techno Warriors broke its tradition of scoring highest in the practice robot round and  then scoring poorly in the official rounds.  By doing this, the team was able to win for the first time first place in robot performance.  This award is presented to the team with the highest score of the day on the field mat.  New this year was the addition of the Core Values board which the team enjoyed putting together and also Coopertition which encouraged teams to assist one another during the season.  The Techno Warriors spent an afternoon with the Pearl Upper Elementary teams, Techno Pirates and Pirate Warriors, earlier in the season assisting them build and program.  The team had a fantastic time and the tournamen ran smoothly.
